A web designer is a professional who specializes in the visual and artistic design of interfaces and websites. His main role is to create attractive and functional visual concepts for websites, with an emphasis on aesthetics, user experience (UX) and ergonomics. Web designers generally work closely with web developers to bring their designs to life.
The responsibilities of a web designer
Graphic design: A web designer creates graphic elements such as mock-ups, layouts, icons, logos and images for websites.
User experience (UX): Working on the layout of elements, information hierarchy, content legibility and accessibility to create a positive user experience.
Responsive design: With the proliferation of mobile devices, a web designer must take into account responsive design, i.e. create web interfaces that adapt and function correctly on different devices and screen sizes, such as smartphones, tablets and desktops.
Skills required
- Strong graphic design skills and a good understanding of design principles such as composition, typography, color, balance and visual harmony.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch or similar.
- Create user-friendly interfaces that are intuitive and easy to navigate.
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS to understand technical constraints and work closely with web developers.
- Be able to design websites that adapt and function correctly on different screen sizes and devices.
Skills in areas such as animation, mobile interface design or interactive prototyping are a great asset for a web designer.
